The aim of the BioNet project is to strengthen educational capacities of students, researchers and health professionals in the domains of environmental and occupational health as well as in human biomonitoring. BioNet project has also the mission to assess exposures and health risks for workers in the partner African countries (Morocco, Benin and Ethiopia) through a human sentinel surveillance system.
The present platform consists of massive learning on areas of interest that will benefit a large number of students and healthcare professionals, both in Europe and Africa. In particular, this training will be of high interest for health professionals in Africa to support their knowledge and practice for recruiting workers in different occupational settings to conduct the sentinel survey.
The training is divided into five modules, each containing several videos subtitled in English and French.
At the end of each module, trainees will need to take a quizz to assess their understanding of the course. A module is validated upon the achievement of at least 70% of correct answers on the quiz.
A certificate of achievement will be issued to each trainee after validation of each module, and after final validation of the entire course if the trainee completes all five modules. Certificates will be accessible by automatic download.
Description Module 1 - How to create a national sentinel survey?
The objective of this module is to present the competences needed for a national center to support the conduction of national or regional sentinel surveillance.
Description Module 2 - Introduction to epidemiology and environmental health
The objective of this module is to present the basic aspects of epidemiology and public health for evaluating health effects of chemical exposures and for monitoring environmental chemicals in the general population.
Description Module 3 – Human Biomonitoring
The objective of this module is to present basic aspects to understand the main principals and applications of human biomonitoring for exposure and risk assessment of chemicals at workplaces.
Description Module 4 – Risk assessment and management
The objective of this module is to learn how to assess risks to human health and introduce measures to mitigate and manage indoor and outdoor pollution, occupational safety and health risk.
Description Module 5 – Occupational health
The objective of this module is to understand the main principles and practical possibilities of using biomonitoring for exposure and risk assessment of chemical at workplaces and for occupational health surveillance, and to plan and implement workplace biomonitoring programs.
